Aero Kenya has effected major fare reductions on its traditional Eldoret route.
With effect from July 4th 2008, the airline slashed its fares by (20 per cent) up from $94 (Ksh 5599) down to $69 (Ksh 4500) for one way tickets and $138 Ksh 9,000,00 for return tickets on the same route.
On the Nairobi - Kitale route passengers will pay a moderate (Ksh6,500) $103 one way and (Ksh12,198 ) $194 before taxes,
The fare cut was part of the airlines celebration as it marked its 4th anniversary on May 20th as per its tradition every year.
The move was also in realization of the harsh economic times facing the country on the back of the post election disturbances that destabilized various segments of the economy.
AERO Kenya's head of marketing Constatine Mwanga said they were appreciating the prevailing economic dynamics that had left most passengers on the edge.
"This reduction was driven by the need to give our loyal clients something to celebrate along with us as we marked our fourth year in operation besides taking into account the harsh economic situation facing our country," he observed.
The result has seen more passengers streaming back to the airline as it now remains the market leader on the route despite stiff competition from a host of competitors.
